About Dr Ong K. K.
Dr. Ong Kim Kiat graduated from the University of Singapore in 1977. Since then, Dr. Ong has gained a wealth of experience at various centres across the globe, and is a recipient of multiple Health Manpower Development Program Fellowship Awards.
Apart from his training at Singapore General Hospital, Dr. Ong underwent a fellowship in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery in Green Lane Hospital, New Zealand. Dr. Ong also trained in neonatal cardiac surgery and arrhythmia surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne and the Westmead Hospital in Sydney respectively.
The heart is a muscular organ in the bodyresponsible for pumping blood throughout the body via its circulatory system. The blood provides the body with oxygen and nutrients, as well as removing metabolic wastes.
However, sometimes, the heart does not function as it should.Worryingly, this is becoming increasingly common.
